Is Golf Ball Fitting worth it?

I was informed that Golf Galaxy and other golf shops offer a golf ball fitting. You bring your driver hit a few ballls and they monitor your swing speed, swing angle etc. They find out the right ball for you and give you a list of such balls.
Has anyone done this?
Is this legitimate or just a farce?
And of anyone who has done this, has the match with your ball shown as an improvement with your game or a noticeable difference?
